Norma J. Olson-Bartley

Norma J. Olson-Bartley is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood, a master’s degree in Mathematics, and a Sixth Year Certificate in Literacy.  Norma has over thirty years of experience in teaching young children in preschool, first grade, and second grade in the Plainville Community Schools. She earned her Reading Recovery Certification through the University of Connecticut.  In 2019, Norma was awarded the Plainville Community Schools Everyday Heroes Award.  She was nominated as Teacher of the Year in 2020. 

 Norma is a lifelong resident of Plainville and is married with two daughters and two dogs. She has been a Board Member of QANC since 2015.  As a citizen of the world, Norma values peace, love, the arts, people of all cultures, diversity, and social justice.  Norma is enthusiastic, committed, and creative, and a life-long learner.  She has taught Sunday School for many years.  She enjoys traveling, photography, reading, the theater, music, and meditation.

At a time when diversity and social justice are more important than ever, Norma would like to see QANC broaden its footprint on the community by increasing cultural awareness, building our young people’s confidence through the arts, helping to develop an affinity and respect for all people through love and peace.
