Earle L. Jackson Sr. Watoto Program

Watoto (Swahili for "children”) is a multicultural program empowering youth through arts and humanities workshops. Aligned with African tradition, the program includes youth of all ages who meet, learn, and create together! The program provides a safe space for participants to build positive relationships and the confidence to achieve their dreams.

Participants meet weekly to develop their unique creative talents and learn about the diverse heritage of their community. They work across mediums to create projects celebrating local heroes, stories, and cultural themes.

Kay B. Davis We’re Grown-ish Program

Adulting is hard! “We’re Grown-ish” is designed for middle- and high-school Watoto participants who want to learn essential life skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. We meet weekly to try out new forms of artistic expression, discuss career pathways with successful people from our community, learn how to take on the responsibilities of adulthood, and have fun!

Session themes vary each year and are decided after a group discussion identifying what skills we need the most help with. Lessons may include (but are not limited to):

Young woman with braided hair in a plaid shirt smiling and holding a red marker, sitting at a table with drawing papers, surrounded by other people, in an indoor setting.
